Ordered from ubereats for delivery, food was packed nicely in large portions and arrived hot and on time. Paneer Makhani and Saag were DELICIOUS. Papadum were crunchy and not oily. Green chutney had great spice from the chiles. Garlic naan was great too. I will definitely be ordering again! Large amounts of paneer in the entrees and the peas in the rice was a nice touch. ”

“ My family, friends and I have been lucky to have enjoyed the original Diwan restaurant on Shore Road in Port Washington NY for 36 delicious years. The owner Bobby's son Mac was just 11 then. Mac grew up in the business and took this to a whole new level when he opened Diwan Hicksville in 2007. The shining and bright 5 stars for this gem are for: 1) Authentic and old school grub. Lentils like the way grandma used to make them;chicken dishes with the beautiful marinade, comfortable spice level and juicy tenderness. Rare dishes like kadhi( fritters in this crazy good thick soup with yellow sauce made from yogurt and gram flour)- you just have to go and try this. Hot bread that goes from oven to your table to your mouth in 12.4 seconds flat. The rice pudding is divine. 2) The best service from a very attentive team that Mac has trained and delegated to look after every single detail. I have personally seen Mac go from table to table to every customer with genuine warmth and a wonderful welcome. He has always asked me for honest feedback. 3) A warm, mellow and fun vibe to appreciate the top notch fare and service. You feel it as soon as you enter. The interior is simple and comfortable. 4) Consistency. Even when slammed on a Christmas Monday or a busy Sunday when they have multiple catering orders, the kitchen churns out the best of the best. 5) Great prices for this quality and variety. We were not able to make it in time for the lunch buffet, which is a steal of a price, so ordering a la carte was our next option. Ray is the (SME) Subject Matter Expert when it comes to Indian cuisine. We had the mango Lassi for starters, which tasted liked a full mango tree was squeezed into a glass. It had a dense consistency with resemblances of a custard, delicious! The main entrees were the grilled salmon, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, malai kofta, garlic naan and bread. Everything Ray ordered was a mouthwatering symphony! The food was smokey, sweet and savory, a taste bud extravaganza! The gravies and spices are simply just perfect! The food is unparalleled in taste and the service from the staff is amazing. Parking is a breeze since the restaurant is located in a strip mall. A definite must for lovers of Indian cuisine.
